Character Descriptions
Bart Heywood – male, 50’s – Mayor of Eden Hills, Bart comes from a long line of politicians. Of course, he’s running for governor. He’s a Heywood after all. Bart is a relatively educated, yet mentally average, fairly simple guy who loves sports and getting attention. Bart is consumed with pride to the degree that he risks losing his wife and career. Bart’s biggest downfall is his pride. When he sees the art, his pride grows causing him to have to make choices that may change his life forever.
Brenda Heywood – female, 40’s – Wife of Bart, very conservative, works for the homeless housing program in their town. She starts being filled with lust due to her distracted husband not being around and the art piece bringing out aspects of her sexuality that she hasn’t tapped into up to this point. She meets a homeless man, Joe, who becomes the focus of her lust. Because of her way of life she sees the art piece as dirty and is the one who ultimately destroys the art piece.
Cage Black – male, 30’s – Son of Loris Black. He is documentary film maker and reporter. He saw Bart near where a murder took place and is convinced Bart is the killer. Between his suspicion of Bart and his mother’s deteriorating mental issues Cage is pushed into a deep rage throughout the making of his own documentary of the corruption in the city. When he sees the art piece it reminds him of all the things that are wrong in his life and infuriate him further.
Jade Spears – female, 30’s – Bart’s political publicist. She is Brenda’s adopted sister and has felt like she was under her sister’s shadow her whole life. She is so envious of her sister’s stature with a successful man like Bart that she looks on them with envy. This envy pushes her to do anything she can to both make sure Bart wins the election and steal away Brenda so she can have Bart for herself. When she sees the art it fills her with even more envy, for the artist and it makes her envy what her sister has even more.
Morris “Moe” Fuller – male, 60’s – Moe is a wealthy land developer and owner of many buildings in the town, including the city hall buildings where Bart’s offices are located. He is so obsessed with owning and having as much of the town as he can that he has a model of the town at his home where he plots how he will take over the town. His gluttony is shown through his large stature and his other obsession, food. When he views the art piece it fills him with even more gluttonous thoughts, bringing visions of the death of his wife, which he was too distracted with food to notice at the time.
Loris Black – female, 60’s – Loris is the mother to Cage, and is in love with her husband, who left her nearly 40 years ago, she is an has been actress who continuously re-enacts old movies and auditions to her ‘husband’. She struggles with her mind with keeps her inside and slothful, not allowing her to go outside and keep living but keeping her in one place. Seeing the art she becomes even more stagnant and slothful in her ways and reverts back to seeing her imaginary husband.
Ava Rice – female, 20’s – She is a beautiful, self-involved vlogger raised to always be fashionable and conscious of her appearance. Ava always goes for what she wants, no matter the price or legality. She is engaged to Mark and is obsessed with having the most elaborate wedding possible, even buying two wedding dresses just in case because she couldn’t decide. Her greed is so great that she even gives up her engagement ring to pay for…something else that she just has to have. When she views the art piece it pulls out her greed to such a degree that she decides she must have it at her wedding.
Mark Price – male, late 20’s – Fiance’ to Ava, finally gets fed up with Ava’s greed. Retired pro baseball player now coaches at the Catholic school, where Brenda works.
Rosie Wise – female, 60’s – Owner of the local corner store where many characters go. She loves flowers and her store is uniquely also a flower shop amongst the normal corner store merchandise. Rosie is a wise old hippie and keeps an eye out for the citizens of Eden Hills.
Joe Roemer – male, 40-70’s – Homeless man living in the park. Becomes the object of Brenda’s lust after seeing the art piece with her. Has only been homeless about a week after his wife was contacted by his lover’s husband and kicked him out.
Dave – male, 50’s – Bart’s brother and cosmetic surgeon. He works out with Bart and gives him botox. Very well off.
Father Freeman – male, 40’s-100’s – Typical priest who notices Brenda’s odd behavior.
Daisy – female, 20’s – Corner store patron. Friends with Ava, Jade and Daisy.
Bonnie – female, 50-70’s – Elderly thief, bored of bingo.
Clyde – male, 50-70’s – Elderly thief, bored of bingo.
Radio Host – Typical radio host voice
Lilly’s Mother / Ava’s Mother – female, mid 30s – Used during flash back of Ava’s youth with her mom and a present day mother and daughter.
Lilly – female, 5 yrs – Cute girl being brainwashed to be beautiful by her mother.
Starlight – female, 20’s – The stripper who entertains Bart and says nice things to him.
H.Cherdon Bedford
For as long as she’s been, Creative Superhero H.Cherdon has demonstrated an exceptional aptitude for the creative arts. Her art and literature, stories and poems, have won her numerous awards and gained her national attention, especially for the children’s picture books she both writes and illustrates. Also a talented stage performer, she has appeared in more than 40 stage productions, two performing arts touring troupes, several short films and a few PSAs. Her producer powers include organization, presentation, big-picture perspective, unforgettable memory and maybe even a little obsessive-compulsive behavior sometimes. Driven and self-motivated, Cherdon excels as as artist, director, photographer, web designer, writer, actress, illustrator, producer, bookmaker, entrepreneur… and creative superhero. As the Executive Director for the Austin Film Meet, Cherdon reaches out to fellow filmmakers and artists. She thrives as a “handyman” for creative challenges, a real-life Creative Superhero for hire, using love and creativity to touch lives and projects. Cherdon is based in East Austin where she lives with her fish, four kitties and her partner Brandon Boggs.
